South Shore Health Strike Plan

Strike Averted

CUPE and the Nova Scotia Association of Health Organizations, which is bargaining on behalf of South Shore Health and other district health authorities across the province, have reached a tentative agreement.

This means that the strike has ended.

The Emergency Departments at South Shore Regional and Queens General Hospitals are open. The Emergency Department at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital will open at noon Monday January 18. Other hospital services, including blood collection, x-ray and ultrasounds, will resume normal operations on Tuesday, January 19.

Scheduled appointments and surgical procedures that have been cancelled will be rescheduled as quickly as possible. Staff will contact those patients directly.

Chemotherapy, Dialysis, Prenatal, Public Health, Palliative Care, Continuing Care and Outpatient Addiction Services are operating as scheduled.

South Shore Health apologizes for any confusion this may cause and appreciates your patience and understanding as we attempt to return to normal operations as quickly as possible.
